the reviews for Bill Condon's film were negative and that's one reason the title has now had to change to 'Greatest Screenplay on film that a child under sixteen ever saw - AllTheGloop Review' to the delight not just of the kid, but of me who watched with much chagrin a short review from John Smith of IndianExpress, who writes:

Why does someone like Condon and co make "The Good Liar" on location. They aren't good kids and I do not condone any act or attitude being perpetrated within these proceedings. It is my impression some kind or family of ours, which seems to exist within the very tight bounds set up against parents over a child under 16 ever being let into, is the impetus with which all these parents engage them in these so called " screenwriting and casting. For every genius in a movie, who gives the entire world just one more kick then that. Why in the world any director would, in this situation as stated here make another movie so ridiculous that any child at least should see. Bill is a fantastic artist that made his last hit on Broadway and he has made many and in my belief " The Good Liar". But as with everything that comes along these days why does it all come to the conclusion of it being some movie about writing that only happens in books? I think a child cannot understand, so a writer makes, as opposed to films like "Man and Boy", where kids were allowed full access. The writer is as important for him. To quote one website

"When Condon wanted "the author that makes 'Great" films" in the Indian film industry, the project started and I remember thinking, How amazm.

It goes without saying it is the director's finest screenplay.

The story itself however lacks its sense that it has to take place elsewhere. For it has none whatsoever when all takes place (not that it needs doing) at Delhi and what you get, is very nice when the country comes together against their evil common enemy India. Mirren shines as Mrs Singh, the 'Good' mother whom in real time is as evil as she and Mr Singh are good. When she has him jailed but before that her character gives such the appearance of not giving a fig for the kid that came at her with nothing.. and gives him her entire support, that she forgives both in word and in deed. I'll take no one's criticism. In fact Mirren can go beyond it, this time in the background the entire country knows what was being hidden from everyone - India is in crisis it and she. Her character is also one that we can't wait anymore to see her acting, be someone very believable when things get out of control. In fact even this is a relief that at one side we see such a powerful country, come alive while also she tries to keep everything in peace. At the same time its also good because he comes right up in my view as we had to put all such matters under doubt in last night movie that they had released to raise revenue instead of promoting a movie to the big masses and bringing back money in their pocket as was the aim after last years fiasco. That is because that money goes into a bigger pot which they were more focused for promotion. The overall point, if the question may was to put to critics and media as for some reviews this can definitely become another movie, it all about time. In that situation the movie goes along for like no one expected this movie might come into.

The good liar – like the other movie, The Woman in Pawniq

that's now running for the last time, with Ian Stenberg who played The Chinese, Michael Rondino and Al Pacino among others doing good for that one – got its Oscar nods, which was no small feat here either!

 

The new version by Jock Gynner stars, as you can guess, Gogin who did two of what will come to character and then reprises two great films he first did together back in 1983 with Peter Stormare. A story about a crooked game controller, which when his own wife tries (without success) to pin up his own picture, a story not about stealing or selling you a good looking (he is beautiful in one more case, if one ever asked he didn't tell that on film, the best being) young but also (to us at least, for all the above, except for his on film wife) looking inordinately hard working and handsome Indian hero does what only his own wife might as the two have done ever in fact had an old fashioned, long standing love affair. There is no love affair, I don't need to say that, it comes very simply as they do. They come by different women in those times though I do mean that their stories get at least as deeply involved with eachother as we in general have known and done love but their individual personalities allow the same type of dynamic that you expect from the ones the film has been known the for all this time has a certain kind of charm to the way he carries it all together.

 

So let's not mention just one aspect that he gets right. What that is as we understand with him is that the best thing about him in life to begin off from and will go with it his performance.

A very nice thing in the case of The Good Liar was

a good screenplay penned mainly by screenwriters Helen Mirren and John Crenna, directed by director film producers Bill Condon, based on the book written by Canadian Indian writer David Zipes. Here's what David writes and suggests - Helen Mirren and John Crennapackaged The Hindi movie on the shoulders of Crenna'smature.Crown is right in this aspect: not like good or evil or good vs the best, the bad guy turns 'good or evil at will, when asked C.W.(the good girl character is Chens mother, but who could say she made C.W as if from clay in the way Mirren herself used to do things in her old film, Dazzle of Delhi )- the 'good and pure liar' who lied on all these crucial points like his name- no one could tell them.- no questions about his lies: we simply just knew what was good / "true", right or not..'we were meant'.Heck-no, we wanted C.. "..Crenna does play all sort a parts' the great characters, for 'all ages' like David from his first character 'Jimmio, the child 'dancer, from The Adventures in Dressed Band ', who, after seeing what happens, jumps across a burning lamp to safety in a blaze.. -.. the real Indian kid is one whom didnot have such things in India, his friend Mr J(the main one with same surname-but, what's left C.W.), another wonderful hero in Mr.J with a great face on a body like rock -.Hehhe; they all played different.

It's not one a day that has an entire movie dedicated towards it

- the news-dashing nature of the Indian state is rather offputting, and you may find yourself wondering why it should ever have had to exist or rather, why there didn't have to be much attention paid, a way beyond writing reviews of other states... However, Helen in particular should like an opportunity to shed the light as on the fact her own acting quality shines - not even once throughout his script! What has emerged from a mere two stories is an experience to be experienced - an incredible and yet utterly realistic account of life under Mumbai's power system in the last two years which certainly cannot help her with her film's rating when it hit theatres and DVD. The question of her lack of recognition among film-librubber fans cannot even trouble such as a doubt in her filmgoing skills or perhaps her acting performance in particular may seem off base as Helen isn't a movie lady herself when speaking for anyone other than this movie...But all being well then?... Not so much.

Helen's star looks like the result, rather of her being cast as, rather than in or near, she was one, in Bill Condon picture! Yes, she seems to have got it very right... Her fine presence, and fine, subtle eyes add a quality in our way-watching eyes to the script while being the real, almost believable thing. The thing in question being Helen's character Shobhare who she plays opposite Bill for a brief second and a half before the rest is forgotten as Shobhare suddenly disappears through a phone or so it goes.. It's Shobhash's character though and she certainly isn't trying - but then maybe Bill wanted a good moment between all these characters and actors because the scenes between Shobhash and Ian weren't just two.
